What is this scam?

Fake officials claim your benefits are suspended, SSN is linked to crime, or you owe money; demand info or payment to fix it.

Warning Signs

  • Calls threatening benefit suspension, requests for SSN or personal information, threats of arrest

What to Do

  • Social Security never calls first. Hang up and call Social Security directly at 1-800-772-1213. Never give personal info to unsolicited callers.
